BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Shea's Performing Arts Center has laid off seven full-time employees as the Downtown Buffalo theatre continues to sit dark because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shea's has been closed since March, when Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered all theatres, restaurants and gyms to shut down. The 3,000-seat Shea's was two nights into a six-day run of 'Hello, Dolly!' when the curtain came down on the M&T Bank Broadway Series.

In July, Shea's announced it would resume its Broadway series in December. But that timetable is uncertain. The Broadway League announced today all Broadway shows would remain shutdown in New York City until at least June 2021.

"We received the news this morning and are currently evaluating the impact this will have on our schedule," a Shea's spokesperson said.
