Sunday marked a special afternoon for hundreds of families in western New York.

"Spirited Athletes Bold at Heart," or "SABAH" held its annual "Celebration on Ice" at KeyBank Center. The therapeutic recreation program helps those challenged with a disability.

For the past six months, participants have been rehearsing a routine on skates. Sunday, each of the groups performed it in front of their family and friends.
This year's theme was "many colors of SABAH."

"We're all different and unique. As you can see, they all work hard. So, today is their day. It's a day to say you're terrific and everyone is here to see you today," said SABAH Executive Director, Sheila O'Brien.

Organizers said 800 took part in the performance thanks to the help of some 400 volunteers.

SABAH has hosted the celebration on ice event for 42 years.
