AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — Williamsville North High School, the alma mater of Ssgt Billy Wilson, who died in serving in Afghanistan in 2012, honored the late soldier during a lacrosse game Tuesday night.

"It helps fill the void," Kim Wilson, Billy's mother, said, "It makes us feel very proud and happy."

Wilson played varsity lacrosse for four years at Williamsville North. His leadership on the field proved important to him later in life.

"He took those leadership skills to the army. He was just an all around good guy" Kim Wilson said.

Each Williamsville North Varsity Lacrosse player gave the Wilson's a flower, with an assurance they would not forget their son. Williamsville North went on to beat Williamsville East 14-9.
