BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — As of January 1, 2019 employees in New York State will be eligible for even more paid leave.

This is the second year of New York State's Paid Family Leave bumps that will rise through 2021. Starting New Years Day, eligible employees will be able to take 10 weeks of paid family leave.

This could go to employees looking to take time off to bond with a new child, care for a family member with a serious health condition, or assist loved ones when a family member is deployed abroad on active military service.

The number of weeks off will continue to rise through 2021, where employees will be able to take up to 12 weeks of job-protected, paid time off.
