NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — A woman has died after a serious crash involving a drunk driver in Niagara Falls.

Police say the driver, 32-year-old Stephen Wruck, of Niagara Falls, was traveling westbound on Michigan Avenue near 24th Street in an SUV when he failed to stop at the stop sign and hit another vehicle. The crash happened just before 6:45 p.m.

According to investigators, the driver of the other vehicle, only identified as a Niagara Falls woman in her 60s, was ejected. She was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center where she later died.

7 Eyewitness News' Hannah Buehler spoke with the man who rushed to help the woman, his cameras captured the crash.

"I've got to say I'm traumatized," said James Pittman.

Wruck was not injured in the crash and was driving with suspended license, according to police. He was arrested after leaving the scene of the crash. Police say Wruck also called police to falsely report that his vehicle was stolen.

Wruck was charged with vehicular manslaughter, DWI, leaving the scene of a fatal accident and several other vehicle and traffic offenses. He is currently being held in Niagara Falls City Jail without bail.

The crash remains under investigation.
