Teenager dies in sledding accident in Lewiston

LEWISTON, N.Y. (WKBW) — According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, a 16-year-old girl is dead after a sledding accident in the Town of Lewiston.

The girl was sledding at Clyde L. Burmaster Park, or Bond Lake Park, on Saturday morning. She and three-year-old went down the hill on a sledding tube. At the bottom of the hill, they crashed into a tree.

According to police, both were taken to John R. Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo. The 16-year-old girl was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital. The 3-year-old boy was treated and released.

The crash is under investigation by the Lewiston Police Department and the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

The hill where the accident took place is closed.
