LITTLE VALLEY, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office is warning residents that a letter from the "Department of Transportation" may be a scam.
Several people have reported receiving a letter in the mail from "DOTService.com" claiming that their "DOT numbers" are past due and they now face a $1,000 per day civil penalty unless they complete a "Biennial Update."
The Sheriff's office notified the NYS DMV about the letters and confirmed that they are a scam.
If you received one of these letters do not respond to it or provide any personal information if contacted by phone.
