BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — In an effort to show how affordable living in Buffalo is, Invest Buffalo Niagara has created the Cost of Living Calculator that helps break down how far your paycheck goes in different cities.
"We're always preaching good things about Buffalo but now you don't have to take our word for it," Greg Pokriki of Invest Buffalo Niagara said. "This is a quantitative, data-fueled approach that supports the business case."
Just plug in a city and your salary and the calculator will figure out if living in Buffalo will be worth your while.
For example, if you look at a location like New York City on a $50,000 salary, your money will go 60% further in Buffalo.
"You can look at grocery data, compare how much ground beef costs in Los Angeles and Buffalo, and you see how much your decisions every day would benefit from living in Buffalo," Pokriki said.
The calculator can be used by anyone and Pokriki hopes it will lead to some people giving Buffalo a chance, especially in the age of working from home.
"It's a strong tool to market those folks because they can see what they would make here and still work a job in another place."
