BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — AIDS Walk Buffalo announced that this year's event will be the last. The event has been running annually for 27 years.
AIDS Walk is an annual 5K walk that heightens awareness of the impact HIV continues to have on our community. All funds raised go to Evergreen’s supportive services for people living with HIV in WNY. This year's AIDS Walk takes place on May 4th.
The organization says they have seen a decline in the amount of money raised by the walk so they are exploring other fundraising opportunities. They are looking at launching a new event on or around World AIDS Day, which falls on December 1st. They are reaching out to the community, their donors, walkers and volunteers for new ideas and input on how to make their World AIDS Day event meaningful and exciting for the community.
It’s because of you that we’re where we are today. That’s why it's bittersweet to announce the retirement of AIDS Walk Buffalo. This year’s event on May 4 will be our last walk. Whether you've participated as a walker, volunteer or donor, THANK YOU.
