JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WKBW) — The National Comedy Center in Jamestown is receiving high praise from a prestigious publication.

TIME Magazine named the comedy center as one of the "World's Greatest Places" to experience. The Jamestown institution is just one of nine U.S. attractions on the list.

"We are proud that the National Comedy Center has been selected by TIME – in a worldwide context – as a destination to experience right now," said Journey Gunderson, National Comedy Center Executive Director. "We set out to build a cultural institution that would do justice to the incredible artists and bodies of work it celebrates, and this global distinction affirms that it does."

The list includes a mix of museums, bars, cruises and theme parks.

The National Comedy Center includes displays of comedic artifacts and immersive exhibits. The nonprofit center in Jamestown was inspired by the town's biggest hero, Lucille Ball, who envisioned a place where comedy would be celebrated as an art form.
