BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Tops Markets will be providing cloth face masks to all store associates by the end of this week as part of the Williamsville-based supermarket chain's ongoing efforts to keep employees safe during the COVID-19 crisis.

All of the masks are made in the United States. Some have been made in the Buffalo area.

Disposable masks are already available to associates. Tops has also distributed 5,000 face shields to workers who interact with customers daily.

In addition, Tops says 90 percent of its registers now have Plexiglas installed on both sides. The safety measure should be in place at the registers of all 162 Tops locations by Wednesday night. Plexiglas has also been installed at all customer service desks, pharmacies and gas stations.

Tops also recently announced that because of demand, it is expanding its senior-only shopping hours by a half hour, from 6 to 8 a.m. at all stores every Tuesday and Thursday.
