Two injured after vehicle crashes into Town of Tonawanda senior apartment building

TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Two people are injured after a vehicle crashed into a building on Delaware Avenue Tuesday night, according to Town of Tonawanda police.

Police say the crash happened around 7 p.m. at the Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village apartments. Crews arrived to find the vehicle on its side. They had to extricate the man driving the car.

Police say the driver is 32-year-old Edward Harris. THe victim has been identified as 94-year-old Lida Alminate. Both are from the Town of Tonawanda.

A accident investigation found that a vehicle driven by a Town of Tonawanda man was traveling down Oakridge Ave. when it suddenly crossed Delaware Ave. and into a parking lot, striking a parked car and then the building. The driver was taken to ECMC with serious injuries and is listed in fair condition.

A woman inside the Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village building was also injured when she was hit by debris from the collision. She was also taken to ECMC with serious injuries.

The Brighton Fire chief estimates over $200,000 in combined damages to the car and apartment building.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
