7 Eyewitness News has learned that two inmates at the Wende Correctional Facility have tested positive for COVID-19.
The NYS Department of Corrections and Commuity Supervision (DOCCS) wouldn't identify either inmate by name, nor would it comment on their medical records.
Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is serving his prison sentence there, and some people have been wondering if he is one of those inmates.
We reached out to Weinstein's attorney in Chicago Sunday afternoon.
She says that she has not been notified that her client has tested positive for COVID-19.
There are 43,000 incarcerated individuals currently incarcerated statewide. Both positive cases of COVID-19 are inside the Wende Correctional Facility, a spokesman said in an email.
With each confirmed case, the spokesman also said DOCCS worked with the Department of Health to identify any potentially exposed individuals in order to provide notifications and to stop the spread of the virus.
