NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Two more staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 at Maple Avenue Elementary School in Niagara Falls.
The staffers tested positive during testing conducted today by the Niagara County Department of Health, three days after another staff member who had spent time in multiple classrooms tested positive.
Following the first case, superintendent Mark Laurrie decided to close the school and shift to remote learning for the week. The school was expected to reopen October 8. It's unclear if the district will stick to that timetable.
Laurrie will make a statement tomorrow at district offices at 9:30 a.m.
The county health department will host another COVID-19 rapid testing event for district staff tomorrow at the Niagara Falls High School Field House.
