BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — New numbers show you're more likely to hit a deer in Erie County than other parts of the state.

AAA ranked Erie County as third for deer crashes based off the latest numbers available, which come from the 4th quarter of 2018:
· Orange (581)
· Monroe (469)
· Erie (398)
· Oneida (364)
· Ulster (354)

According to AAA, October, November, and December are by far the the peak months for deer crashes in New York, as the animals are very active due to mating and migration. During this period in 2016, there were 9,720 deer crashes across the state. That's equivalent to one deer crash every fifteen minutes.

AAA previously issued a warning regarding car-deer collisions following a crash in Orleans County that resulted in the deaths of two people.
