BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Tuesday, the Erie County Health Department made some changes to its COVID-19 testing criteria.
Testing at a county site is only available to those who are currently under quarantine, or close contacts of a confirmed COVID-19 positive patient. This goes into effect county-wide on Thursday.
Those who believe they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms can also receive a test, but the county says day-of tests are unlikely.
For COVID-19 tests, experts say results are coming back within 3-5 days. Rapid tests results are available within 15 minutes.
For close contacts identified by a contact tracer, testing is prioritized on when that person last had contact with the infected individual.
