Who's behind the giant crop circle in Elba?

ELBA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Driving down Transit Road in Elba, or more likely flying overhead, you may ask, what’s going on out in Stargrowers Field?

We promise it’s not the work of aliens.

It’s the work of Collin Stucko, the creative manager of a new clothing and lifestyle brand called Observe Gently.

This design is a very large version of their logo.

“We wanted to sort of emboss this into the earth and sort of plant the seed of our idea,” Stucko said.

Stucko says the brand uses clothes to bring people together, and the logo is symbolic of that message.

“The side that’s not trampled down this is room for conversation and growth and learning,” Stucko said.

The Elba native has lived in Los Angeles for the past 5 years, but is back in Western New York during COVID-19, and reached out the owner of Stargrowers Farm.

“He actually gave me a couple of locations I could've used, but this one actually spoke to me the most," Stucko said. "I said johnny I want to use this one what do you think. He said yeah man, absolutely, go for it. And again just the support from the community coming behind this has been really cool to see.”

But why a crop circle?

"I was watching an alien documentary and they talked about crop circles and it just got me to thinking how would aliens be observing our civilization right now,” Stucko said.

The design is nearly impossible to see from ground level, that’s because it’s 200 feet long and 200 feet wide.

Don’t let the smooth paths fool you, Stucko says no tractors or UFO beams were used here.

"Math and planning that’s how they did things back in the day," Stucko said.

The crew spent ten hours measuring and marking up the cover crop.

Stucko says its cool to see locals drive by and stop and look at what’s going on out in Stargrowers Field.

“This field isn’t gonna live forever obviously so we just want to enjoy it while we can,” Stucko said.
