Friday evening, Lockport High School graduate and current Tennessee Titans running back, David Fluellen, returned home to host the first annual dual session football camp. Campers ages 7 to 13-years-old participated Friday and high school aged campers are set to participate Saturday.
UB graduate and current NFL free agent running back, Branden Oliver, joined Fluellen on the gridiron to help coach the campers and couldn't help but remember when he was that young.
"Whenever I’m in this position I just wanna give back and get’e, something they can take home for the rest of their life,” Oliver said.
Fluellen couldn't help but agree.
"It feels good because I was once that kid, looking up to a professional athlete, just wanting to meet him, just wanting to be around that person,” Fluellen said.
The weekend heat definitely began to set in at the start of Friday's session, temperatures scorching into the high 80s, Saturday they're set for the 90s.
"You know down in Nashville I kinda get used to this heat... I think today is a good day for football, Fluellen said."
Fluellen made sure to have plenty of water breaks planned for the campers throughout the session and even had a training staff incase it got too hot for any of the children.
