It’s been a year exactly since the old Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital was imploded.

After a series of booms, seconds later the historic building was a pile debris. Demolition crews used 400 pounds of explosives to take down the old hospital. Hundreds of spectators watched the early morning implosion on October 3, 2015.

Part of the vacant property is currently being turned into the new Canterbury Woods. This $41 million project will feature 53 independent living apartments, as well as an assisted living component. Canterbury Woods bought 1.4 acres from TM Montante Development to build this facility.

TM Montante Development plans to start phase two of the project sometime next year. It will include building retail and residential mix-use space near Canterbury Woods, on 5.3 acres of property..

A representative for TM Montante Development tells 7EWN some work is being done to the infrastructure around the construction site, including underground pipes.

Canterbury Woods construction project is expected to be completed by Fall of 2017.
