National Institutes of Health: no evidence orange juice is effective for fighting the flu

Posted

It turns out one of the most common home remedies for the flu may not be as effective as we thought.

The National Institutes of Health says there's not enough evidence suggesting orange juice does anything to help treat the flu or its symptoms.

It did a study, in which it found that the vitamin C in orange juice helps shorten the duration of colds and can even help dampen some of the symptoms.

But in the study, the NIH found that there's not enough evidence to suggest the same for the flu.

This study comes at a time where the Wall Street Journal reports we're seeing the first year-over-year increase in orange juice sales in five years.
