A 22-year-old woman may have contracted HIV after using manicure equipment that was shared by her cousin, who unknowingly had the virus.
The "rare case" happened in Brazil about 11 years ago but was just reported in a medical journal this month. The November edition of AIDS Research and Human Retroviruses included a study that concludes the unidentified woman likely caught the virus from the manicure tools.
Researchers said she didn't have any other common risk factors for contracting HIV, including practicing unsafe sex or intravenous drug use.
See the above video for more on the case.
