"Play basketball. Chill. Do what kids do," Amari Maddox said.
He lives around Domedion Avenue in Buffalo. Maddox and his friends want people to know that his neighborhood isn't what people make it out to be.
"Its not a bad neighborhood, its just like bad things go on. A lot of young kids try to join gangs. But for real for real its not a bad neighborhood,” Maddox's friend, Yazzier Reddick, said.
This is comes after two shootings occured in the past three weeks.
According to Police, at around 9:30 Friday night a 7-year-old girl was shot inside her home on Domedion Avenue. About three weeks ago, a 28-year-old man was shot and killed one block over at Genesee and Crossman.
These shootings, especially the most recent, are leaving neighbors speechless.
"Out of everything a little girl? Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? That's just me being honest though. Are you kidding me I don’t understand why things have to be they was," said Yassim McClean
The community wants to set the record straight.
"it's a great area," said Reddick.
One message is prevailing among the others.
“Everybody has to set aside their differences for a second and get their minds together," said McClean.
