New $21 million waterfront neighborhood on Buffalo's Canalside

Posted

Two mixed-use buildings are being built on Buffalo’s Canalside.

Today Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation approved handing over the land behind the new Children’s Museum to Sinatra and Company Real Estate. Developers will turn the 71,000 square feet property into two $21,000,000 mixed use buildings. These buildings will include shops and restaurants on the ground floor and mixed income apartments on the upper floors.

The goal is for Canalside to not just be a destination, but also a place to live. Sinatra Developers will receive $2 million from the ECHDC for capital construction cost, and a $2 million loan from Better Buffalo Fund. Most of the money will come from the private sector. Developers say at least three businesses are showing interest in the project.

The new Heritage Point Buildings are expected to be ready for business on Canalside in May of 2020.
