New Era announced Monday the company will manufacture NFL caps in Western New York at the end of the month. CEO Chris Koch joined New York State Senator Charles Schumer to make the announcement.
The company announced they'll start production this week on 100,000 official NFL caps.
The company has long-produced MLB caps, and only produced small amounts of NFL caps until this point. The production of NFL caps will keep more than 250 employees at the Derby factory working year-round. In a press release Schumer said he hopes manufacturing NFL hats will help ensure the longevity of the New Era factory.
"New Era has conquered the diamond, and now they're ready for the gridiron," said Schumer. "This production line will usher in a new era for the company."
New Era's world headquarters is on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo. The announcement comes weeks after New Era purchased the naming rights to the Buffalo Bills' stadium.
Koch reiterated his company's commitment to Western New York, and said the company is proud to now be producing the collection of caps for the NFL in Derby.
