Joey Valenti cried when he realized the Niagara Falls Mayor was giving him the key to the city.
The key stems from something that dates back to when Joey was just two-years-old. Valenti used to mow the vacant lot on his street with his neighbor, Tom Wilson. When Wilson died suddenly of a heart attack in 2012,
Valenti continued their tradition.
Mayor Paul Dyster, the department of public works, police and fire fighters all surprised Valenti with a key to the city and a few gifts. “It was amazing,” Valenti said.
Valenti plans to keep mowing the lot.
Why?
He said it’s what Mr. Tom would have wanted.
