A man is now accused of killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend, 22-year-old Shannon Ditillio of North Tonawanda, near Myrtle Beach.
Ditillio traveled to South Carolina last week to see her ex-boyfriend, 24-year-old Christopher Kalb. Her body was found four days later in a vacant lot in Longs, which is 15 miles outside of Myrtle Beach. The owner of the land discovered Ditillio's body lying in a puddle of blood and called police. She had been shot in the face.
Wednesday night Kalb was arrested in North Carolina by the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office on an unrelated warrant. The warrant is for a domestic violence incident that occurred last November. Kalb is accused of assaulting a woman and the warrant describes Kalb "grabbing her and striking her on the face."
On Thursday, Kalb a warrant was issued for Ditillio's arrest, police believe he killed her in the vacant lot. Horry County Police are awaiting Kalb's extradition so they can officially charge him.
"I had a feeling that it was him," said Lisa Beither, Ditillio's mother. "I'm very happy they caught him, I'm relieved."
Ditillio was four months pregnant when she was killed. She also leaves behind a 16-month-old daughter she and Kalb had together.
Kalb appeared in court Friday morning where he refused extradition to Horry County. A trial will be held for extradition.
