The state of New York has moved to take over two struggling Buffalo nursing homes and given the job of operating them to another New York company.
The Grand Healthcare System will immediately begin operating Emerald South and Emerald North Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers. Both operations are located on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo.
The NYS Department of Health made the decision Monday and says the new operator will make sure these two underperforming facilities are turned around and become the pride of Buffalo.
Grand Healthcare already runs nursing and rehabilitation centers in 10 New York counties including one in Batavia. It says the first order of business is to make sure the Emerald guests needs are properly taken care of and the first order of business is to upgrade staffing levels.
