A Pittsburgh man has been charged after officers say he left his dog inside a hot car in Niagara Falls.

Aaron Dingman was charged with a violation after an officer found the dog in the lot of the One Niagara Building on Rainbow Boulevard.

Officials say a heat gun was used to find the car was 118.7 degrees. The officer waited a few minutes for the owner to return before he broke the window and rescued the dog.

The dog was taken to the Niagara County SPCA to be evaluated. It was not in distress and not inured so it was returned to the owner.
