Buffalo police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting on the city's west side.
The victim has been identified as Rafael "Pito" Rivera, 32, of Buffalo.
Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo tells 7 Eyewitness News that just after 3:00 a.m. police got a call for a man with a gun. Police responded to area of Plymouth Avenue between Massachusetts Avenue and Rhode Island Street. That's where police say shots were fired, and one person was killed. Our photographer at the scene saw the body of a man on the ground. Two police officers were not shot, but were taken to ECMC, which is part of the department's critical incident protocol. They have been released. Buffalo Police identify the officer involved as Elnur Karadzhaev.

A witness tells our news crew he was on his porch when he heard keys jingling as though someone was running. Then he heard someone yelling to "get down," and heard the popping of gun shots.
Officials say they are reviewing video from the scene and they did recover a gun at the scene.
A spokesperson for the Erie County District Attorney's Office confirms to 7 Eyewitness News that the office is investigating the deadly shooting.
