The opioid epidemic is affecting an age group that many don't expect.
Poison Control Centers across the U.S. say they're now getting over thirty calls a day from families who say their child was exposed to opioids. That's about one call every forty-five minutes.
A new study in the Journal of Pediatrics shows that there were nearly 190,000 calls to Poison Control Centers between 2000 and 2015 from parents saying their child had taken opioids.
Researchers recommend locking medicine cabinets and making sure that opioids are out of reach of teens and children.
