A coalition of community members wants to have a say when it comes to the development of Buffalo's Outer Harbor.
The "Our Outer Harbor" campaign was launched on Tuesday stressing that all planning processes for development follow the intent of the law, set a positive precedent for waterfront land use, and ensure transparency and timely information for the public.
"We'd like to make the area between Times Beach Nature Preserve and the terminals a park", said Nicole Matterson, one of the leaders of the initiative. "Include things that are ecologically and recreationally viable for the region. Bike paths, promenades, areas where people can have public concerts. Something that the public can come and enjoy year round.'
The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation, which is in charge of the development of the Outer Harbor, will be meeting with the community to discuss improvements on September 28th.
