Parent teacher group files formal complaint to remove Paladino from the school board

The Buffalo Parent Teach Organization will be filing a formal application to the Education Department for Carl Paladino's removal from the Buffalo School Board.

The organization says it is in the final stages of preparing the application.

This would be the first formal application filed for Paladino's removal since his controversial remarks in Artvoice about President Obama and the First Lady.

The BPTO tells 7 Eyewitness News it is currently finalizing their petition with attorneys and will be providing supporting evidence to prove Paladino's misconduct.

"We feel confident in what we've prepared for the commissioner, but if [Mr. Paladino were to file an appeal and] go to the courts, we want to make sure we have the right amount of evidence to move forward in court proceedings," said BPTO Co-chair Larry Scott.

The Buffalo School Board has also secured legal counsel for its own, separate submission to the education department.

Paladino has apologized for his remarks, but maintains he was exercising his first amendment rights.
