State Troopers responded to a one car collision on Phillips Road in the Town of Colden.
The driver of a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling north bound on Phillips Road when she lost control of her car.
The car rolled into a ditch and burst into flames.
Two other vehicles traveling on Phillips Road stopped after spotting the fire.
One Good Samaritan called 911 and another went with a nearby homeowner for fire extinguishers.
They tried to put the fire out, but the fire extinguishers had little impact.
They grabbed the passenger, Hunter Delia, 18 of Yorkshire, from the passenger side of the Volkswagen and pulled him from the vehicle.
Due to the severity of the fire, the driver, Tristan Pleace, 18 of Arcade, was unable to be removed from the vehicle. Pleace was pronounced at the scene. Delia is in stable condition.
Police are investigating the crash. They say speed may be a factor.
