We're learning more about a pedestrian who was found dead on the side of a Lancaster road overnight.

Lancaster Police say they responded to a call of a person who had been hit on Broadway near Pavement Road around 12:30 a.m.  When they got there, they found a man lying on the side of the road.  Police say the 28 year old man died at the scene, and the car that hit him was no where to be found.

Police say that it appears that the victim, 28-year-old Ryan Johns, was walking west on Broadway when he was a struck from behind by a vehicle driving west. Police say it appears from evidence collected on scene that the car may have been a truck, possibly a semi.

Dennis Mazur lives across the street from where the accident happened. He tells 7 Eyewitness News he was watching TV when he heard a loud boom.

"It almost sounded like a gunshot," he said.

William Powell was on his way to work when he discovered the body around 12:30. He called 911.

"I was shocked that no one stopped," he said.

Anyone with information on this crime is urged to contact the Accident Investigation Unit of the Lancaster Police Department at 683-2800 extension 105.
