A Pennsylvania man was arrested by New York State Police on Friday morning at the Angola Service Area on Interstate 90 eastbound.

Troopers responded to a report of an abandoned ATV at the service area at 10 a.m. Troopers discovered the ATV had been stolen, and that at least one witness had seen a man walking from the vehicle.

After a brief search, troopers found Dustin Patterson, 21, of Waterford, PA, hitchhiking on the thruway. State police say Patterson brandished a pocket knife when a trooper attempted to take him into custody. The trooper was able to force the knife out of Patterson's hand, and he was taken into custody.

Patterson was processed at the Buffalo state police barracks. He is charged with obstructing governmental administration, criminal possession of stolen property, menacing a police officer, harassment, resisting arrest, and assault.

Patterson was arraigned in West Seneca Town Court and taken to the Erie County Jail on $30,000 bail.
