A Perry woman convicted of murdering her former friend will spend 15 years to life in prison, according to the Wyoming County District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors say 38-year-old Kira Kastenhuber was sentenced for murder in the second degree on Thursday, after pleading guilty to the crime in October.
The body of 33-year-old Desirae Withey was discovered in her home on Borden Avenue in Wyoming County in February.
Investigators claim Kastenhuber broke into Withey's home on February 7th, then proceeded to beat, strangle and stab the woman to death.
Police believe the murder was motivated by the fact that Withey was dating Kastenhuber's ex-boyfriend. The two women had previously worked together and were friends.
