Pet owners can now bury their dogs, cats and other cremated pet remains at Forest Lawn Group Cemeteries.

Following the passage of New York State's Pet Burial Law in September 2016, Forest Lawn cemeteries are the first in the state to allow pet burials.

"At the Forest Lawn Group, we believe that allowing the incident interment of the cremated remains of domestic pets is an important step for us to take," said President of the Forest Lawn Group of Cemeteries Joseph Dispenza. "It allows us t better meet the emotional needs of the many families and individuals wo have a strong bond with their pets, including service dogs and police K9 corps."

Fees will not be charged for the grave itself, but all other fees associated with the pet burial will be used for the cemetery's permanent maintenance fund, according to Dispenza.

"Any revenue derived from pet burials will go directly to the long-term maintenance of our cemeteries, which helps us to keep our sacred promise to provide the finest in perpetual care to all those who rest within our gates," said Dispenza.
