A 7-year-old boy is in critical condition after Buffalo Police say a car hit him, then took off.

Tremont Seals was playing outside during Fourth of July celebrations in the 200 block of Loring Avenue when he was hit by a vehicle, his family tells 7 Eyewitness News.

Police were called to the scene around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. They say the child was hit by a gray vehicle, which has not yet been located.

"Him and his friend were running, playing tag or something, and I think that he came down the street and got to the side a little bit and the car was speeding and just hit him," said Ahvyaun Seals, Tremont's sister.

His family found him shortly after.

"We found him up under a car," said his aunt Regina Seals. "You can't tell us that you didn't see what you were doing, didn't know what you were doing."

His mom says he has brain damage, fractured face bones, and a punctured lung.

The little boy is in critical condition at Women and Children's Hospital.  Police are searching for the driver of the car.

A Gofundme page has been set up to raise "emergency financial relief" for Tremont's family.
