Jamestown Police say they've identified a suspect and plan to arrest that individual in connection to an incident involving a dog found dead and hanging from a tree.

Police say a passerby noticed the dog hanging by its leash from a tree Monday evening. It happened on Hallock Street near Palmer Street. The white and brown pitbull was already in a state of decomposition.

Police says they received dozens of tips in connection to the case, and they are crediting the public for their help in identifying a suspect.

Police plan to arrest the suspect Wednesday afternoon and will provide that person's identity and charges Thursday afternoon after they are officially charged and arraigned.

Officers say they've received many calls from people asking how they can help financially, and they recommend anyone wishing to contribute make a donation to their local SPCA or to the Pick of the Litter Animal Shelter in Jamestown.
