A standoff that lasted seven hours has ended in Olean. Police tell us the suspect was taken into custody Tuesday evening without further incident.Crews were first called to the scene at Buffalo and Washington Streets around 10:57 a.m.
According to police, the gunman shot through the door as officers and a building maintenance worker attempted to evict him.
The maintenance worker was shot and was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where he is in stable condition.
Police and swat spent hours trying to negotiate with the suspect and used two rounds of tear gas to try to get him out of the apartment.
The suspect is now in police custody. Police have not released his identity. We expect to learn more about pending criminal charges in the coming hours.
