18 burglaries in three months in Niagara County

Since mid-September, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office says there have been 18 daytime burglaries.

Deputies say burglaries have occurred in the northeast and northwest areas of the county and are asking the public to remain vigilant. If you see any suspicious people, vehicles or activity in your neighborhood, call authorities.

The sheriff’s office says the burglars may first be approaching homes and asking for arbitrary information, such as if the homeowner lives there or for directions. Deputies say in this era, it is unusual for someone to not know where they are going or to approach the wrong house.

If possible, provide officers with descriptive information, such as the vehicle’s plate number, the direction of travel, and what the person you spoke to looked like and was wearing.

The sheriff’s office can be reached by calling 716-438-3393.
