Buffalo Police have arrested at least seven people over the last week in connection to gun incidents, including four arrested Saturday in an area where two people have been murdered.
Officers were on patrol Saturday night in the Jewett Avenue-Hill Street area when they attempted to pull over a suspicious vehicle. The four people inside the car took off running.
Police were able to catch all four suspects and say they discovered that the vehicle they were in had been reported stolen and that the four were in possession of a stolen handgun.
In the past 16 days, there have been eight homicides in Buffalo from gun violence, all but two of which involved victims under the age of 25. Two of those murders took place on Jewett Avenue.
Police say they are investigating to determine if the people they have taken into custody for gun incidents are at all connected to the recent string of homicides.
Mayor Byron Brown has authorized additional police patrols in response to the shootings.
