Last night the Lockport Police Department received a report of a car smashing through the front of a liquor store in the Davison Road Plaza.

Officers responding to the scene witnessed the damage seen in the photo above.

Witnesses told police the driver of the vehicle drove into the front of the store and then went through the smashed front window and loaded a number of cases of liquor into his vehicle before leaving.

The witnesses provided a license plate number which was located by police driving from the area. After a short vehicle chase in which the suspect was observed pitching liquor bottles out of the car, the suspect was stopped and arrested.

The suspect was arrested for 12 separate charges including burglary. The vehicle was later found to be stolen from Cheektowaga and the suspect, Gary Carpenter, had arrest warrants out of Amherst. Damage to the building was in excess of $5,000.
