Deputies tracked down a driver with a prior DWI conviction who they say crashed a pickup truck early Wednesday morning and fled the scene.
Around 1:20 a.m., officers found a truck in a ditch on Genesee Road in Sardinia, but the driver was nowhere to be found. The owner of the truck told deputies that he had parked it at 46-year-old Samuel Fuller’s house.
After a two-hour search, Fuller was found. Deputies say he had wet, muddy sneakers and the vehicle’s keys in his pockets.
Fuller’s license is revoked due to a prior DWI conviction and he is court-ordered to use an interlock device if operating a vehicle.
Deputies placed him under arrest on charges of circumventing an interlock device, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, drinking alcohol in a vehicle, unlawful possession of marijuana, leaving the scene of an accident and other traffic infractions.
Fuller was being held in the Erie County Holding Center on $250 bail.
