Deputies say a traffic stop led to charges for the driver of the car and the arrest of his passenger.
The sheriff’s office stopped David Hathaway on Rt. 400 around 2:30 a.m. Thursday because deputies say he was driving well below the posted speed limit and swerving between lanes. The 51-year-old Lackawanna man was ticketed for driving with a suspended license and his vehicle was impounded.
Before the vehicle was towed, deputies searched it, Hathaway and his passenger, 30-year-old Nicole Metz of Buffalo. Metz was allegedly in possession of heroin and a hypodermic needle. She was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and taken to the Erie County Holding Center on $500 bail.
Hathaway was released with traffic tickets.
