An inmate at the Erie County Holding Center is facing even more jail time after he was caught with a homemade weapon, fashioned from household items.

A holding center Deputy was doing a routine search in the cell of Jemmott Pierce, 19, when the "shank" fell out of Pierce's bed sheets, according to Deputies.

The weapon consisted of a jagged piece of glass from a broken light bulb and a handle made from duct tape. The shank was confiscated by Jail management.

The Sheriff's Office charged Pierce with criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use and a felony count of possessing dangerous contraband in a prison. Pierce is also facing administrative disciplinary charges.

Pierce, of Buffalo, is currently at the holding center on $10,000 bail for gang assault and robbery charges from an incident in the City of Buffalo.
