The sheriff’s office says while taking into custody a man who was trashing a Wyoming County home, he struggled and injured a deputy.

Officers were called to Lower Reservation Road in the Town of Castile shortly before 3 a.m. on Thursday for an out-of-control man damaging a home. When deputies arrived, they attempted to take Edward Koziel into custody.

The sheriff’s office says the 23-year-old Leicester man resisted and fought with deputies, injuring one officer’s shoulder.

Koziel was brought under control. He is facing charges of second degree assault, a felony, resisting arrest and fourth degree criminal mischief.

He is being held in the Wyoming County Jail on $25,000 bail.
