A man was taken into custody at a Tonawanda homeless shelter Tuesday and charged with robbing a liquor store just before the Snowvember storms buried West Seneca.
Detectives say the robbery occurred November 17 at Best Value Liquor Store on Southwestern Boulevard. A man entered the store around noon with his hand in his pocket and said to the clerk, “I need $200 or I’ll blow your head off.”
But when Winter Storm Knife dumped over seven feet of snow on the town, police were unable to follow up on leads.
After the storms and snow cleared up, police got back to work and matched the vehicle description to a vehicle at a motel on Southwestern Boulevard. Police spoke to Jeffrey Pearce, 54, of no permanent address, about the robbery, but he soon fled the area.
An arrest warrant was issue and Pearce was found Tuesday at the Salvation Army in Tonawanda.
He was taken into custody and taken to the Erie County Holding Center.
