Police seized hundreds of prescription morphine and hydrocodone pills and arrested two people following a five-month investigation into drug sales in Orleans County.

Jerry Walls, 45, and Vickie Hughes, 49, both of West Avenue, were taken into custody Wednesday. Authorities say throughout the course of their investigation they seized hundreds of pills that had been obtained through the Medicare and Medicaid programs and were allegedly sold by the suspects.

Walls and Hughes are both charged with two counts each of third degree criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance. Walls is additionally charged with eight counts of fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and five counts of fourth degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, while Hughes is charged with two counts of fourth degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and four counts of fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Due to their prior criminal histories, both Walls and Hughes are being held in the Orleans County Jail without bail. Lang is being held on $20,000 bail.

Walls and Hughes will face additional charges for Medicaid and Medicare fraud.
