A Dunkirk man is facing felony charges after police say they saw him digging out his crack cocaine stash from a drain pipe.

Just after 4 p.m. on Friday, officers were called to the corner of Central Avenue and Third Street in the City of Dunkirk on reports of a man acting suspiciously. The caller said the man had hidden something near the doorway of an office building before going inside.

Police arrived and searched the area. Officers say they found around $1,000 worth of crack cocaine stashed in a drain hole near the doorway. They left the drugs and waited.

Officers say Jahmaul Johnson left the office building a short time later, and after looking around the area, retrieved the drugs from their hiding place. The 41-year-old was then arrested for third and fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies.

Johnson was being held without bail pending arraignment.
